The
Bermuda Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee is pleased to announce that Ms
Lucy Hall has been selected as Bermuda’s Rhodes Scholar 2009.
Lucy attended Bermuda High School and Saltus Grammar School in Bermuda. In 1999,
she entered Cheltenham Ladies’ College in the United Kingdom. Lucy was an
academic scholar at Cheltenham and attained the highest grades in her GCSEs and
A levels. She was awarded a distinction in the English Literature Advance
Extension Award and was the recipient of both the Clay prize for history and the
Essex Hope prize for English in her final year.
Lucy is currently at Warwick University in the United Kingdom where she is
studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a first-class
standing.
Lucy was also a music scholar while at school and is a post-grade eight standard
cellist and pianist and an active member of the symphony orchestra at Warwick
University. She has also been a member of a piano trio which twice won the
National Chamber Music Competition for Schools and has also performed alongside
the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a live, televised performance of the Proms in the
Royal Albert Hall, London.
Lucy trained in ballet at the Somerset School of Dance and has performed at an
advanced level. She also completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.
Lucy has been accepted at University College and intends to read for a MSt. in
English Literature (1550-1780).
